The Airline operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. It is dynamic and exciting. We have a state of the art Network Control Centre which is led by a duty Vice President who is responsible for the whole of the Network Operation. This VP is supported by Senior Managers Network Control and Duty Operation Control Managers whose combined responsibilities are to try to maintain Emirates airline’s schedule integrity at times when there is disruption (delays, diversions, re-routing, cancellations etc.). All the major stakeholders within the airline are represented in order to improve the speed and quality of recovery decisions and, to communicate those to the service delivery units across Dubai Airport and Overseas.
Contingency Planning is very important and no matter how well prepared you are, the unexpected will happen and you have to deal with it. Airports can be closed for security reasons, runways closed due to damaged or a disabled aircraft blocking a runway, airspace can be closed for VIP state visits and so on. All these can disrupt an airlines operation and plans must be in place to recover those operations.
