Our Aircraft
Emirates has selected aircraft types for its fleet with the aim of achieving one of the lowest passenger fuel and emission levels of any airline.
In pursuit of this aim, Emirates is working with manufacturers to reduce the weight of aircraft, is spending billions of dollars on buying the latest aircrafts and has set up a Fuel Management Steering Group to maximise fuel conservation. The group is looking at every aspect of operation including aircraft loading, climb procedures, cruise speeds and altitudes, single engine taxiing and flight planning improvements.
Emirates has ordered 58 Airbus A380s, environmentally the most efficient aircraft in the world. Learn more about our A380 environmental facts here. It is also building a fleet of the new Boeing 777 aircraft, considered one of the most fuel efficient aircraft ever produced. The company has also ordered the Airbus A350 and insisted on the use of lightweight, advanced materials and design in production.
To put modern aircraft into context, the A380 is more fuel efficient per passenger kilometre than a small family car. Emirates versions will offer fuel economy as low as 3.1 litres per 100 passenger kms, better than that of Toyota’s Prius hybrid passenger vehicle (4.4 litres per 100 vehicle km).
